Paper Crafts
Paper crafts come in a variety of styles. Decorating flat
paper with stamps, drawings or stickers can be done by anyone. Macaroni
portraits are a fun craft for kids to make - all that is needed is elbow
macaroni, paper, glue and a little bit of creativity. Paper can be cut
out into different shapes and then glued onto other shapes to create
a very interesting layered effect.
Many paper crafts involve folding paper into different forms, either
sculptural forms such as paper airplanes and origami, or to aid and
duplicate cutting, such as cut out snowflakes. To make a paper snowflake,
just fold a square piece of paper many times, not necessarily in any
order, then use scissors to cut angles on the edges of the paper. When
the paper is unfolded it will have the pattern of a snowflake.
Origami is an ancient paper craft that originated in China before being
largely taken over by Japan. It has been around since the invention
of paper and is one of the oldest practiced non-useful crafts that is
still around today. The Japanese paper crane has become an international
peace symbol, and is produced with a few clever folds of a thin, small
square paper, often made from rice.
