Art Prints
Art prints are available in many sizes, and by many artists
and photographers. They vary in quality greatly, some prints being posters
sold for $4.99 while others are silver or titanium prints that won’t
fade and look beautiful but can easily run well into the thousands of
dollars. Size is one factor relating to cost, and the collectability
of the artist. Signed and limited edition prints being the most valuable.
Art prints can be found in museums, galleries and in grocery stores
alike. Although a print in a museum is probably higher quality, and
most likely framed, a similar print can often be purchased in a gift
shop or similar store. This allows the painting or artwork to be enjoyed
by a lot more people, which is an essential part of art. Popular paintings
done by the old masters such as Michelangelo and turn of the century
artist such as Picasso and Salvador Dali are common in many homes.
While original artwork is appealing, it is often not affordable, making
art prints a wise investment. An original piece of art may increase
in value as time passes, if the artist is successful or disturbingly
unsuccessful, or it may lose its aesthetic value completely and discarded
or painted over. Most people don’t take the risk of collecting
original artwork but opt instead to collect their favorite masterpieces
in much more affordable prints. Although it won’t increase in
value, unless it is numbered and signed, it will provide years of viewing
pleasure.
